IKEA Micro Store

IKEA asked Ballance to help design a mobile retail store that brought the IKEA shopping experience to the consumer.
The concept was to create an easily moveable retail environment that could be deployed at larger housing complexes, like student residences and new condo developments as they opened. Consumers would walk into the micro store to see a miniature versions of the IKEA bedroom environments, IKEA support staff and self serve kiosks to browse products and place orders. Product orders would then be pulled at the main store and delivered to the site same day.
This micro store is built from one custom 20’ HC container with custom exterior & interior cladding.
